Its gradient unfolds differently with each arrangement. Spread wide, it becomes an expansive field of colour. Casually folded, it reveals just a few bands, a quieter accent against linen, pale walls or warm wood.

Handwoven in a cooperative workshop in Tetouan, northern Morocco, Blue Sky belongs to our Chefchaouen blanket collection. Its wool-rich blend brings softness to everyday use, while a fringed edge gives the woven surface a relaxed finish.

Machine wash on a wool cycle, 30º with a delicate detergent and then hang dry.
Hand wash with a delicate detergent and then hang dry.

As a detergent, use one specific for wool or Savon de Marseille.

The Story Behind the Object

Blue Sky — Colour Held in the Weave

The Workshop

Behind Blue Sky is a working relationship with a weaving cooperative in Tetouan, in northern Morocco. This is the workshop where the blanket is woven for Moroccan Corridor, giving a specific place to the hands behind the textile.

The artisans describe supplying their textiles to merchants in nearby Chefchaouen. Their account connects two places within the blanket’s story: the workshop where it takes shape, and the city through which many visitors come to know this family of textiles.

For us, knowing the workshop adds something that a colour or a collection name cannot offer alone: a relationship with the people who make the object.

Collector’s Note

We chose Blue Sky for its restraint. Its character does not depend on an elaborate motif, but on the relationship between bands of colour, their proportions and the woven structure that holds them together.

Look closely, and the broad impression of blue gives way to individual threads. Small variations bring the making into view. They are not a substitute for a well-finished piece, but part of what makes a handwoven textile worth attending to.

That balance is what we value: a clear composition, with room for the hand to remain present.

Why Moroccan Corridor?

Woven from the Atlas Mountains

Every Moroccan wool blanket and throw in this collection is handwoven by Amazigh craftswomen on traditional wooden looms — the same looms, the same gestures, the same geometric patterns that have defined Berber weaving for centuries.

The wool comes from sheep raised on the high pastures of the Atlas Mountains. It is hand-spun and naturally dyed using plant and mineral pigments — madder root for deep reds, indigo for blues, saffron for warm golds. Each colour has a source you can trace. Each pattern carries a meaning rooted in Amazigh tradition: protection, fertility, identity.

These are not decorative blankets. They are dense, warm, and extraordinarily durable — built for the cold nights of the Moroccan highlands, and equally at home on a sofa or a bed in any interior. The pom pom blanket, the flat-weave throw, the diamond-pattern wrap — each one is the work of a single weaver, made from memory, not from a printed pattern.

No two pieces are identical. Slight variations in colour and pattern are not imperfections — they are proof of authenticity. Handwoven in Morocco by craftswomen preserving a living tradition.
